Varty’s Funeral Directors Donate 90 Easter Eggs to Wigan Youth Zone

Varty’s Funeral Directors is marking its 90th year in business by giving back to the community that has supported it for generations.

As part of a year-long programme of community initiatives, the family-run business has donated 90 Easter eggs to Wigan Youth Zone. The charity is one it proudly supports as a patron.

Founded in 1936, Varty’s has supported families across Wigan for nearly a century. Reaching 90 years in business is a significant moment. It matters not just to the company, but to the community it has served for decades.

Rather than simply celebrating this landmark moment, the team has chosen to give back. This includes a series of meaningful acts throughout the year.

The Easter donation is one of the first of these.

Varty’s presented the Easter eggs to Wigan Youth Zone. They brought a small moment of joy to the young people who attend.

Kristen Varty said:
“Celebrating 90 years in business is a huge milestone for our family, and we wanted to mark it in a way that gives something back locally.

Wigan Youth Zone does amazing work for young people and their families, and as patrons, we’re proud to support the charity however we can. We were delighted to donate 90 Easter eggs and hopefully bring a little bit of joy this Easter.”

Lynsey Heyes from Wigan Youth Zone added:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Varty’s for this thoughtful donation. Support like this helps us make a difference to the young people who walk through our doors.”

The Easter donation forms part of a wider campaign of community support, fundraising and charitable activity planned throughout the year.

For Varty’s, this significant achievement is not just about looking back. It’s about continuing to support the people and organisations that shape Wigan.

In 2025, the business was also recognised as Independent Business of the Year at the Wigan Business Awards, reflecting its long-standing commitment to both families and the local community.
